Lovely Fridays - Practical Advice on what YOU can do on day of Jumuah

by Umm Amin

The best day on which the sun has risen, is Yaumu al Jumu’ah (Friday).  During a Friday, Adam was created, entered Paradise and was expelled from it; the Last Hour will only commence on a Friday.”  (At-Tirmidhi, Muslim, Ahmad, and An-Nasaii; Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyah in Zad-ul-Ma’ad fi Hadyi khairi-l ‘Ibad)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet Mohammad sallalahu alayhi wa salaam said, “The best day on which the sun has risen is Yaumu al Jumu’ah; during Fridays Adam was created, expelled, forgiven, and died.  The Last Hour will commence on a Friday.  Every animal listens carefully during Yaumu al-Jumu’ah from dawn until sunrise, weary that the Last Hour might start on that very day, except for the jinns and mankind.  During Friday, there is an hour, if aMuslim slave reaches it while praing and invoking Allah for anything, then Allah will grant it to him.”  (Imam Malik in Al-Muwatta,   Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyah in Zad-ul-Ma’ad fi Hadyi khairi-l ‘Ibad)

Whether or not you are able to make it to Friday prayer, Friday is a more virtuous day of the week for good deeds.  If you cannot make it to the Friday prayer, there are many blessings you can seek out.  Any beneficial deed will have a good reward on an excellent day like Friday.  Make your intention to please Allah and get to it!
